Department of Food Technology

Overview

Subharti Institute of Technology & Engineering was established in 2005 with the introduction of undergraduate programme on engineering degree level in computer science, electrical, mechanical, electronics engineering and Food Technology. Encouraged by the response and the success of these engineering courses, SITE started Bachelor of Technology by the great efforts by Dr. Jayant Shekhar. In addition to this, the Department has also been catering to the needs of the faculty members & students of other Departments of the college inculcating the basic and the advanced knowledge of Food Technology in their respective fields.

B.Tech in Food Technology is a Bachelor’s degree course in Food Technology. This course deals with various applications of food science like preservation, distribution, processing, selection, packaging, etc. The students who pursue the course teach about the chemical, microbiological, and physical composition of food. Food Technology has a great application in the agriculture sector. So, these graduates have many opportunities in this field.
It is a four year full time course. The product development and their analysis taught at the institute are covered with practical exposures. We understand very well that it is paramount to keep the requirements of industry in mind. Like the B.Tech in Food Tech. too has industrial training to give an industrial exposure at the learning phase itself.
