Programme Educational Objectives (PEOs)

1. To educate students in mathematical, scientific ,electrical and electronics engineering concepts necessary to formulate, analyze and solve engineering problems faced by society.

2. To prepare students to communicate effectively, work harmoniously in teams with professional ethics and learn to adopt an integrated approach to problems in the field of electrical and electronics engineering by using latest and advanced technology tools.

3. To prepare students to have broad understanding of the engineering and management principles and apply the acquired knowledge in solving complex and multidisciplinary engineering problems.

4. To equip students with the knowledge to design and develop engineering solutions to the problems faced by society for its sustainable development with the help of environment friendly technologies.

5. To inculcate the ability among the students to explore and learn by themselves, the changes taking place continuously in the field of engineering and technology as part of lifelong learning process.

Programme Outcomes (POs)

1. Apply knowledge of basic Sciences, Mathematics, Engineering and Instrumentation to complex problems in Electrical and Electronics Systems.

2. Demonstrate skill in design of Electronic circuits using contextual and research based knowledge.

3. Show their ability in the design of Electrical Machines, Power Systems & their operation and control by proper analysis of data and synthesis of information.

4. Test their competence in the use of modern computer and application packages/skill-sets.

5. Develop an urge for lifelong learning, research activities and sustainable development of professional problems.

Labs

The department has a complement of nine laboratories that cater to the entire gamut of experimental work for the B. Tech and M.Tech degree course. Several special experimental set-ups are created from time to time which serve to create interest in students. Qualified faculty continuously supervises lab work. The students are expected to study beyond mere standard experiments. The labs are as follows :

Power System Lab:

This is also one of the building blocks for electrical engineers. In this lab the Transmission & Distribution faults are studied and simulated using 3-phase and 1-phase advanced fault simulators. This lab deals with different types of relays and their operation Such as Over Current Relay IDMT Relay Earth Fault Relay Transformer Differential protection Relay These relays are used in protection purposes in the industries and in power plants to protect the System if Faulty Condition occurs


Power Electronics lab :

Power electronics is now days the most emerging field and where a lot of research is taking place. It basically deals with all the converters which are required to handle power at various level of voltages. The lab has a rich addition of cycloconverter, choppers, Bridge converters, inverters, basic characteristics for IGBT, MOSFET, SCR, TRIAC etc. Also it has major types of firing circuits used in the industry. Cathode Ray Oscilloscope is the main apparatus, which is always required to check the output of any power electronics device.


Electrical Machines Lab:

This lab contains the full range of AC and DC machines, with all necessary metering device. The lab caters to conventional experiments that form the core of the EEE course. This is the most important lab, which any under graduate EEE student should be comfortable with. Study of only Electrical Equipment is not sufficient that’s why electrical machine lab study is very essential in electrical field, Because in this lab we understand the characteristic of different type of machine and about their performance in application field such as in textile mill, papermill& steelindustry etc .

Measurement Lab:

This lab basically deals with the measurement aspect of all the circuits and is very much important for any electrical engineer to be fully conversant with the measuring techniques and equipments like meggar, CRO, AC Bridges kits, potentiometer, various bridges, function generator, calibration of wattmeter, ammeter and voltmeter.

Numerical techniques/ Simulation Lab:

The present day research now a day employs the researcher to first go for simulation based results, and then only the hardware is created. This lab has most modern day simulation suites like MATLAB, PSPICE and student version of Power World to enable the researcher to carry out simulation on the emerging field of Power Systems, Power Electronics and Control Systems. The PG scholars use this lab to come out with research papers.

Electrical Engineering Lab:

Electrical Engineering lab caters to the needs of first year students of all batches. This lab houses all the experiments such as different network theorems verification, speed control of different machines, load test on different machines &transformer,Resonance in R-L-C ckt. Which illustrate the basic theory related to Electrical Engineering and gives in depth practical knowledge of the electrical machines &equipments.


Control system lab:

The laboratory is equipped with a large number of state-of-the-art machines, that assist the educational job as well as the research work of the lab. Every year new tools are added to increase our capabilities. There are a no.ofequipments such as….Torque-speed measurement systems (DC-generator/DC-motor and AC-generator/DC-motor) ,Servomechanism setup , Determination of transfer function of DC Servomotor, Determination of transfer function of AC Servomotor, Analog simulation of Type – 0 and Type – 1 systems, Determination of transfer function of DC Generator ,Determination of transfer function of DC Motor, Stability analysis of linear systems, DC and AC position control systems, Stepper motor control system, Digital simulation of first order systems, Digital simulation of second order systems.


Network Lab:

In Network Lab we analyse different electrical circuits by making their connections using theorems. This lab is very essential part of Electrical Engineering in which students are made familiar with the electrical connections, how they are made and practically how circuit gives response. The students analyse the response with the help of different network theorems such as Superposition theorem,Thevenin’stheorem,Norton’stheorem,Maximum power transfer theorem etc,Transient response of current in RL,RC,RLC ckt, Tellegin’s theorem.
