Overview

Department of Civil Engineering was established in 2009 under Subharti Institute of Technology and Engineering as an integral part of Swami Vivekanand Subharti University, Meerut. Civil engineering is one of the oldest branches of engineering. Department of Civil Engineering aims to create a conducive, enabling academic environment to facilitate integration of knowledge & skills to young minds by the logic of the present system and to develop educational means by association of student- faculty common efforts. The department has vast scope due to present employment status in various sectors associated with Civil Engineering at national and international level. Civil Engineering is not confined to infrastructure development only. It includes vast area of research in ecology & environment, transportation, development of hydro-electric power, Design and installation of water supply system, water management & treatment, natural resource & waste management, hydrological studies, storm water management, rain water harvesting , climate change studies and many multipurpose projects like reservoir operation & dam construction. We can proudly say that students will have bright future for many years in this department. The university is dedicated to provide all possible aids to enhance student’s career.

Eligibility

Diploma in Civil Engineering

Course Objective:- To prepare technically sound human resources as an ambassador of technology & engineering skills in different sectors of civil works to provide assistance to technocrats and business managers.

(i) An applicant is eligible for admission in the 1 st year of the Diploma in Engineering Course provided he/she should be at least 14 years on 31 st December of the year of admission.

(ii) The admission shall be considered purely on the basis of merit in the Entrance Examination and counseling conducted by the University.

(iii) The applicant who has obtained a two year ITI Certificate from a recognized institution will be considered eligible for direct admission in the second year of the Diploma Course.

(iv) The applicant who has a two 12th passed with Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics from a recognized Board will be considered eligible for direct admission in the second year of the Diploma Course.

(v) Students passing 12th science with Vocational / Technical subjects or 10th + (2nd year ITI) with appropriate specialization in that order shall be eligible for admission to second year Diploma course of appropriate examination.

Learning Outcomes:-Our students are employed in number of prestigious firms. They are not only job seekers some of them are entrepreneurs and providing jobs to others. Overall they are successful to great extent.

B. Tech (Civil Engineering)

Learning Objectives: - To prepare future leaders of technology to spread technological skills associated with various aspects of civil engineering at national and international levels. To make them suitable for services to the society, state, nation and globe. To equip them with leadership qualities for self employment and entre-preneuship development.

(i) An applicant is eligible for admission in the First year of the B.Tech course provided he/she should be at least 17 years on 31st December of the year of admission.

(ii) The applicant should have passed Intermediate Examination or an equivalent examination from any recognized board/university with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects and Chemistry/Bio-technology/Computer Science/Biology as one of the optional subject.

(iii) The admission shall be considered purely on the basis of merit in the Entrance Examination and counseling conducted by the University. The applicants who have 45% of marks (40% for SC/ST) {From session 2011-12, as per AICTE} or more in the afore-mentioned three subjects and not less than 40 percent marks (35 percent for SC/ST) in optional subjects will be considered for direct admission against seats, which might not have been filled up through the Entrance Examination and counseling.

(iv) The applicant who has obtained a three year Engineering Diploma with minimum 60% marks from a recognized institution will be considered eligible for direct admission in the second year of the B.Tech course.

(v) The applicant having a three year B. Sc degree with Mathematics with a minimum of 60% marks aggregate from a recognized university will be considered eligible for direct admission in the second year of the B.Tech course.

M.Tech (Construction Management)

Course Objective: - To make highly efficient construction engineer to make optimized use of construction materials. To produce future leaders of Indian construction business who will not be job seeker but also capable to provide jobs in construction industries.

B.E/ B.Tech./ B. Sc (Engg.) degree in Civil Engineering/ Mining Engineering /Transportation Engineering/ Environmental Engineering/Structural Engineering/ Construction Technology & Management of any recognized Indian University

OR

Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture of any recognized Indian University

OR

Associate Membership of Professional Bodies pertaining to Civil Engineering / Architecture approved by the competent authority

M.B.A (Project & Construction Management)

Course Objective:- To make highly efficient construction engineer to make optimized use of construction materials. To produce future leaders of Indian construction business who will not be job seeker but also capable to provide jobs in construction industries.

Department of Civil Engineering is headed by Col. Rakesh Kumar Sharma (Retired). He is working from 2010. He is an M.Tech in Civil Engineering from IIT Kanpur in 1987 after getting permanent commission in Indian Army (Corps of Engineers) in 1979. He has experience of serving in number of prestigious organizations of national level. He has served Indian Army (Corps of Engineers) under regimental duties (8 years 02 months), Border Road Organization (7 years 09 months), Military Engineering Service (8 years 02 months) under technical assignments and College of Military Engineering, Pune as Instructor. He has total teaching experience of ten years. He is the guide and supervisor of faculty members as well as students His vast experience in different prestigious organizations and teaching is the key factor for propagation of the department in proper direction. There is a lot to learn and gain from him to achieve our objectives.

b) Availability of internet facilities for staff and students: - Internet facilities are available for students and faculty members in computer cell of the department to get reference in studies and research activities.

c) Availability of separate class rooms for various courses: - There is availability of separate classrooms for each courses and many of them are equipped with Pearson Study material for reference, projectors &I.C.T facilities take advantage of modern teaching aids ICT class-rooms are also available in department to make better understanding of practical classes and complex mechanisms associated with different subjects.
